anyone knows when vlc 1.1.10 hits natty, this is a minor security and bugs update so it should arrive soon officially?

Likely never. Packages in the Universe repository are maintained by the community of MOTUs (Master of the Universe), and I don't think anyone takes care of VLC.

If you are feeling bold I have updated my vlc-git guide to include building 1.1.10 instead of the development version:

Howto: Build the development version of vlc under Ubuntu
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1398119

I will acknowledge that this guide is not for the casual vlc user though, but it is a huge amount of fun compiling your own copy :).

What is point of ubuntu updates that most widespread apps will be left flawed(bugs wont get fixed), why Firefox is updated and not VLC, Ubuntu update plans should be rewritten that real minor upgrades will work out of box not with external ppa-s. VLC is most widespread mediaplayer on net like Firefox is for web. I cannot tell to casual person that please compile this this, i can only tell that just update and you get lastest fix. Maybe devs should give VLC devs access to master ppa so they can update VLC if needed because Ubuntu is most widespread distro in world.

There's a PPA for it, http://www.webcoz.com/how-to-install-vlc-1-1-10-in-ubuntu-11-04-10-10-10-04-ppa/
