Hi guys,

I am having an issue trying to install 10.04 on my machine.
It boots from disc and gets as far as the menu with options to;
'Try Ubuntu without installing'
'Install Ubuntu'
etc.

I can navigate the menus fully and select/deselect options as appropriate but when I select any of the installation options it just reboots the machine.

I am trying to install on a Samsung R560 notebook which has a 32gb OCZ Onyx as the only hard drive. The controller is TRIM, do you think this may be an issue?

Thanks for your help,
RB

Welcome to the forums!

Do you see a "check CD for errors" option? That is a good first step.

Next is to "try Ubuntu without installing." Does that work, recognize all your hardware, do you like it?

Have you used the forum Search feature to see if other forum users have had success with your hardware?

Only then should you choose the "Install Ubuntu" option (in my opinion).

Good luck, please post back when you have more specifics! :)

Thanks snowpine, your common sense drove me to find the solution. I just required a BIOS update. Thank you for your time.

In future I shall be sure to think before asking. ;)
