Has anyone had a problem with the most recent (proposed) kernel update?
I'm running Natty Classic and all I get is a black screen after updating to the new Kernel.

Runs fine for me. I just installed Zorin OS 5 (11.04) this morning and it soon prompted me to update the kernel. Running fine so far.

I just installed the new kernel to see if it would fix my black screen problems on my laptop, which are due to the backlight not working in 11.04.

After installing the new kernel I still don't have any backlight, however, the fix I applied earlier by editing grub by adding the following two lines still allows me to turn up my brightness manually after each boot up:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi_backlight=vendor"
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="acpi_osi=Linux"]

So no change for my system from installing the new kernel.

I've got the same problem as Bobhuber. Does someone know how to fix it?

EDIT:I managed to solve my problem. For my part it was a compatibility problem with grafic drivers, so I uninstall all drivers (nvidia and nouveau) and then I re-installed nvidia drivers.

PD: Sorry for my English.
