Hi

I was wondering. I want to install Ubuntu in virtual box.I am going to purchase an external drive to install Ubuntu.

My question is will Ubuntu installed on virtualbox not work because its not on my primary hard drive. My primary drive is my C:/ drive.
Or does it matter where I install it?

Regards,
Scott

VirtualBox will make a file that simulates a hard drive (which you then install an operating system on) so I don't think it matters what drive you put that file on. So in short, I don't think it matters where you install it.

People have reported issues installing it to external hard drive that have automatic spin-down. It would be better to use a NAS enclosure on a brand new internal hard drive, and build it yourself. And run it over a gigabit LAN network.
