More like Google's web services, but you can't access then from just any computer, only from your iDevice.
(Or will there be a web interface?)

I think it's targeted at core Apple users using the whole iDevice suite Mac, iPhone, iPad, etc. Could be something to do with iTunes for Windows.

There are talk of APIs and I hope there will be. To be honest I've found Ubuntu One to be incredibly lacking in terms of reliablity. Right now I use dropbox everywhere (including servers) and have a specific directory that a cron chmod +x frequently so I can keep my scripts synced too.

I'm sure I'm not the only person here with an iPhone that is tired of fighting the system and wants to INTEGRATE with apple services rather than try to recreate them.

Having said that, I was pretty smug today to see that most of the stuff that iCloud will do I already do with ubuntu everywhere, and a jailbroken iphone including:

- automatic backup of new pics from iPhone
- wireless syncing of music (from specific Rhythmbox playlists)
.. and more.

Ubuntu One (https://one.ubuntu.com/) - Dropbox (http://www.dropbox.com/) anyone?

Dropbox doesn't have the integration of the level of Ubuntu One (syncing folders in their native directories). iCloud looks like it will do that along with other stuff like settings.
