Hey folks,
I have installed Ubuntu today, and so far I am very pleased with the new interface. (Last time I used Ubuntu was back in 2009.) Nothing the less, I encounter a strange error: I am using a Samsung 40" LCD as my main display, with a resolution of 1920x1080, and activated the ATI/AMD proprietary driver.
After some time, the window frame and borders, the launcher toolbar on the left and the top menu disappear and I can't do anything. If a terminal is open, it won't accept anything I type and there is no way to get Ubuntu working again, except restarting my computer.
I already reinstalled Ubuntu once. The system is working now, but for how long? Does anybody know this problem and can offer some help?
