View Full Version : Advice for a new router

So, I think its time for me to get a new router for various reasons. And I figured I'd come here to see what people are using and what they love.

These are the things I'd like to have in it (amongst others, but these are probably the most important)

1. Ability to put dd-wrt on it, so one on this list (http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices)

2. Ability to simultaneously multicast(dual band), so I can put up two different wifi connections.

3. Obviously WPA2 capabilities, but that shouldn't be hard.

4. Ideally in the price range of 70-100, but some of the ones i'm looking at are 160. So I guess no way I can go over 200

5. And Wireless-N

The one's I've been looking at right now are

Linksys E4200
Linksys WRT610N
Linksys WRT 600N

But I'd love to hear pros cons of these or other routers. I'd like to find something that will last me a while.

I have Linksys WRT610N for two years now and can't say a bad word about it. It just works great with DD-WRT.

The bufferbloat guys are working on a tweaked version of openwrt for the netgeat wndr3700v2.

So this looks like a router which will be well supported, even after netgear EOLs it and can be expected to perform well.
