All windows partitions are normally seen when Ubuntu is booted side by side?

Do you mean to see files and folders etc on your windows drive and vice versa?
In Ubuntu, make sure the drive is mounted to view files and folders etc on a windows drive, not sure you can see Ubuntu stuff from the windows drive though

Unfortunately, "along side" is such a vague term that it tells us nothing specific about how your PC is configured.

If you installed Ubuntu using Wubi, your Windows filesystem is located under /host.

If you installed Ubuntu into an actual separate, Linux-formatted partition, your Window filesystem can be found in Places.
