I've highlighted in bold the pronunciations I have been led to believe are correct.

i've always pronounced gnome as "nome". there really isn't a correct way now that gnome no longer stands for GNU Network Object Model Environment. thats why its more likely than not to be written as "Gnome" rather than "GNOME" these days.

i pronounce GNU as "gnu" with a the "g" having the same emphesis as the "mc" in mcdonald

KDE is just "kay dee ee".

suse i've always pronounced as "sue" with an "s" on the end.

I pronounce:

GNU like an animal gnu. I find Stallmans gaa-nuuh thing quite wierd.

Gnome like.. Gnome. As in fantasy races and the insult against people that aren't tall enough.

KDE as K-D-E.

...and also suse--> susie, zuzie, zu-zah(german pron.)

Zu-zah is not the correct german pronouncation. It is zu-ze with the last e sounding somewhat like the e in "certain".

I pronounce them all however I want, and probably incorrectly.

GNU: new
GNOME: nome (one syllable)
KDE: cay-dee-ee

I also pronounce Mepis as mee-puhs, even though I've read in several places that Warren intends for people to pronounce it meh-****.

GNU: gnu (as the animal)
Gnome: nome
KDE: k-d-e

Since KDE is an abbreviation, it depends on your language how you pronounce it.

And SUSE is pronounced as zoozah. There's no ie or ee sound at the end.

The correct form for GNU is GUH-NOO but I pronounce it like the way english letters are pronounced (GI EN IU). I pronounce GNOME normally like the little man's name. And the others correctly except SUSE which is something like SIUSI for me.

No question on this one:
'the GNU system (GNU is a recursive acronym for “GNU's Not UNIX”; it is pronounced guh-noo, like canoe).'
http://www.gnu.org/

It's different than the animal =)

As for gnome, I say it with a silent g (is it really guh?)

KDE I say as K D E

And SUSE is pronounced as zoozah. There's no ie or ee sound at the end.
while i realize this or something like this is proper, i cant get myself away from saying "suze" or something like that. i think ive only said it a few times in my life and the people knew what i was talking about so i got away with it.

I always like to pronounce SuSE as "Sushi"...because it sounds more fun:-D
But as it's from Germany, it should have a similar pronounciation as Zuse, which is a German name.

I live in Spain and my friends pronounce them:-

GNU - Henoo (H as in the Spanish J sound)
GNOME - He no meh (o as in off) sounds like they are saying genome
KDE - Kah Deh Eh
SUSE - Sooseh

I say :-
GNU - noo
GNOME - nome
KDE - Kay Dee Ee
SUSE - Soos

Richard Stallman once made some very funny explanation about the pronunciation of GNU, he thought it was important to pronounce it so that the sentence "My new GNU operating system" wasn't confusing. :)

I think it was in the documentary 'The Code'
