This is more or less the concept of what could be an awesomely simple wallpaper...

Could you, please, link the picture once again without the pinguin (just the background) ?

To my mind the penguin and lettering should have been a very subtle, darker shade than the backgound. A hint rather than a declaration. WTH do I know.

I think that your wall is looking great, I wanted the backgroung to combine it with Fedora's lion.
And, if someone want it, here you go!

Here is a wallpaper I just made. It is kind of low resolution, but I can re render. There are some flaws such as the edges of the curves, when making it I curved them a bit so the light reflects differently. I like the orange on purple, seems like it would go nice with the maverick meerkat default theme.

Ok I packaged the scene. What happened is when making the curve I used splines and I didn't change the vertex count which was set incredibly high from a previous project. When making the edges I didn't align everything so now it reflects oddly. I am pretty sure it can be fixed easily with the help of gimp or photoshop.

having a little trouble do you think you could give me a .obj or .3ds,
they both export from LW.

Sure thing. Working on it right now.

Ok here it is, I couldn't get 3ds because of the triple requirement, but I did add in fbx and obj.

WOW! I cannot get the mesh open for anything!
I don't know why I can usually open all .obj!

Did you try the fbx? I thought blender could work with fbx. I will convert it some more in a little while. Here it is in collada format.

Did you ever get the thing open?

No I did not, sorry Blender refused to open any of them.
Personally I would recomend changing the ubuntu logo itself to soild (Ubuntu) orange, and the rest to (canonical)Purple, with a 45% reflectivity.

Ok, Ill do that and post the renders.

Ok, I did what you suggested, and I fixed the little error.

Looking better!
Now I would suggest adjusting lighting to shine slightly more on the logo tone reflectivity donw on purple material. maybe run a smoothing modifier on the purple objects? Change camra to a 16:9 ratio at 1920p by 1080p.

2 hours to be more precise. So you are saying shift the light upwards? I have a point light situated in the exact center of the logo. Should I change it to a spherical, dome, or directional? Its funny I just got a new monitor to replace one of my old ones that was running at 1024x768. Now that wallpaper is a nice fourth of the new one. Should've rendered higher and spent another hour lol.

2 hours isn't bad for a render.. i've spent 10 hours rendering High-quality stills on my i7.
With the Light I just thought the logo looked dark and should be more centred under the light or so, to taste of course.

Alright, here it is. I increased the linear falloff distance for the light and the ambient intensity so it should be a little brighter. Rendered at 1920*1200. The purple chosen for the biggest part of the image is the exact same as canonicals, but because of the reflectivity and glossiness, it looks a bit more pink.
