View Full Version : [ubuntu] Searching for webcamera drivers
June 2nd, 2011, 08:50 PM
I have recent started using Ubuntu 11.04, It works fine in general.
Though I miss to be able to use my webcamera, I guess the reason for this is that Ubuntu has a lack of drivers.
So my question is, Do anyone know where I can get webcam drivers for my inbuilt webcam in Acer aspire 7730g, Crystal Eye Webcamera?

open a terminal type dmesg click enter

have you tried Camorama, it's in the repos and may just work out of the box, if the only program you have used is cheese then it seems to be bust at the mo.

This was what I got for my webcamera when I typed what you said in the Terminal. I've tried skype, amsn, ebuddy, and other instant chat messengers (won't work at none of them).
In camorama I get this error message: Could not connect to video device (/dev/video0). Please check connection.
Edit: Installed Cheese and this works to capture images, and videos.
Though I wonder is there any method to stream the video for instant messenger programs?
