Firefox PPA should be default for LTS releases

My experience so far with ubuntu has been that Firefox is not on a rolling release schedule. If I want the latest version, I need to download the .deb or install the mozilla PPA. Google has announced it will only support the two newest web browser versions beginning August 1, 2011: http://www.ghacks.net/2011/06/02/google-drops-support-for-old-browsers/

This means LTS adopters are going to have an out of date web browser within 6 months of release if a rolling release isn't adopted by ubuntu. Why not just ship the PPA as default?

Whats wrong with adding a PPA... you technically have to do so just to install Google's Chrome, if you don't wish to use Chromium.

Firefox already is "rolling release" for Ubuntu. For example 8.04 Hardy shipped with Firefox 3.0 but upgraded to 3.6 when 3.0 reached its end of support. I assume this trend will continue with 10.04 (which currently uses the stable and well-supported 3.6.17).

Didn't say they might reconsider their policy on updating firefox, now that firefox has a faster release schedule?
