hi guys,

I have a strange problem with this new version of ubuntu. When the graphical's menu comes up and i choose "try and install" then screen goes black and nothing happens. I have tried almost everything, i redownloaded the iso many times and i also tried through usb and cd, but still the outcome is the same. Today i also tried the new version of Mint 11, but i got the same result. Is it a problem with drive of hardware or kernal???? I could install the previous version of ubuntu without any problem. Only with this version i encountered this strange problem. Any solution guys???

Please provide more details about the hardware you are using.

Mint 11 is based on Ubuntu 11.04, so you are likely to experience the same issues.

As binkles mentioned, we need more information about hardware especially the graphics card.

Thanks.

Having same problem with my Toshiba P505D-8930, AMD Turion Dual-Core RM-74, 4GB SDRam, 320 DDD, 18.4 Widescreen Display, ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics.

I've tried both the i386 ISO and the AMD64 ISO files and burned a CD each. I've the USBcreator to load a 2 GB USB SanDisk thumbdrive and it gets just so far and then even the USB's light stops flickering when it stops accessing the usb drive. Once that happens, the only thing moving is the cursor. I then have to hard shutdown it and turn it back on.

I don't load anything on my machine unless I've worked with it before or have researched it enough and am comfortable with it. I am not comfortable with this as yet.
