Just wondering if I could download the compiz plugin only, for testing reasons on my non-ubuntu linux machine. Last experience I had with unity was in an early alpha stage and I'd like to see how it's progressed.

Hmm, I wonder that too. If it is possible let me grab my yumi key
to test it out. Won't install it just see how well it runs!

Yeah, google gives me nothing, just some 3D web browser plugin or unity ppas.

You can try Building Unity from Source (http://askubuntu.com/questions/28470/how-do-i-build-unity-from-source/28472#28472).

What distro you running?

Don't think it's what I'm looking for. You'd think it would be simple it being only a compiz plugin.

Arch and slack. I've got no gnome 2 install though- only 3. Is it possible to run unity on top of xfce?

I've never used xfce. It may, it's just a compiz plugin. You may want to try a Debian based distro though, I don't know.

If not you could be the first to port it to Arch. :p
