Gambas Webcam

I just need a simple webcam tried the example in Gambas its a no go.
At 1st I was told you have to be in root fine, but it still wont work blank screen.
Am I missing something, it says unable to open video device.

The default is /dev/video
but terminal says
peter@peter-Inspiron-1545:~$ ls /dev/video*
/dev/video0

Last time I used the webcam example in Gambas it worked just fine.

Did you save the example to your own home directory before running? The examples in their installed location are read only.
