So last week I hooked up my monitor to an old desktop. I kept getting this 'No Signal' message. When looking into it on the web I found a site which told me to do the following:

Unplug the power cord of the monitor and hold the power buttong 30-60 seconds, then plug it back in

And this worked. I'm sure there is a good reason for it to work, but you got to admit it seems a little odd.

Now my question to you people is the following. Do you know any solutions that, like this one, seem a little odd but do the job perfectly? :)

When I originally installed my power supply unit, I bricked the onboard graphics card in my motherboard and as a consequence, the VGA ports quit operating. To get around this I had to install a new graphics card and stick a DVI to VGA converter into the graphics card's DVI port so that I could still plug my VGA cord into it.

I've also been known to get around my netbook's lack of screen real estate and still use its camera by plugging it into my 1680x1050 monitor.
