I've partitioned my hard drive and installed rEFIt, downloaded and burnt Ubuntu 32 bit and burnt them to CD (multiple versions from 8.10 to 11.04), but, every time I boot from CD, after about a minute, the screen goes black and the Apple logo turns off and it stays that way for at least 30 minutes (that's the longest that I've waited).
When I try to just load the Live CD rather than install Ubuntu, the first command is something about recognizing ACP drives and the second command is:
[ 5.586....] Not Responding.
I don't have all the numbers.
Anyway, after it does this, the screen goes black and the Apple logo turns off.
I'd appreciate any suggestions. My computing life is miserable without Ubuntu. I miss my PC (stuck with a MacBook for 3 months for work =[ )
