Hello,

I'm trying to duel boot windows 7 and ubuntu 11.04 on an Acer Aspire 5736, but when I try to boot from the cd (which I burned with InfraRecorder) it first goes to a black screen with a blinking under score in the corner, then to a purple screen with a couple symbols at the bottom, and then the screen goes black and nothing else ever happens :( Any idea of whats up with that?

Thanks,
Peter

Hi, welcome to the fora.

It sounds like you need boot options. There is some advice here:

On the purple screen, press enter or any key.
Then it may display a language screen, choose your language.
This should display the menu to try install etc, you can try installing now but you may still get like a black screen or a error message.
If you do, then at the menu press F6, then go to 'nomodeset' and press enter, this should put a cross next to nomodeset, then press esc. Then you could either try or install it as you wish.

The above worked for me.

Hope it works for you.
