Hello Everyone,
I'm new here and to Ubuntu. I have an application that requires Ubuntu and spent the last week bring back to life a Poweredge 1400 that was running Windows NT Server.
After manay attempts trying different versions of Ubuntu I've had to settle on version 8.10. My drive on the Dell server is a 500GB EIDE with the following partitions.
1GB Boot - sda1
495GB - sda2
4GB swap - sda3
I followed this method based on a post I found on the Internet due to the bios of the Dell not suppporting large eide drives.
I want to install AMP (Apache, MySQL and PHP) on sda2. Is there a way to specify that when I type sudo apt-get install apache2...?
Unsure and I haven't found a solution for that.
Also as I am more a mac user and use to a graphical interface does it make sense to install gnome or will it significantly slow down the system?
Thanks,
Robert
