When I try to boot ubuntu 11.04 I get first the busybox display and when I write the command "exit" it shows me:

Kernel panic not syncing: Attempted to kill init!

I ve looked up with gparted if the ubuntu partition is still there and yes it is, but I can not boot anymore. Is there a possibility to boot again or to restore my data.

I have on my second harddrive mint and the problem occured when I tried to upgrade mint: during the installation by mistake I decided to upgrade ubuntu (sda) to mint (sdb), I was in mint on sdb. Of course, I interrupted the installation immediately but the problem is still there. I can not boot anymore to ubuntu on sda, somehow the kernel was damaged.

Boot into Ubuntu Live CD/USB (or even into Mint if that is possible), open Firefox and visit the page:

http://bootinfoscript.sourceforge.net/

Then follow the instructions in order to run the script and post the results here.
