I noticed my Skype suddenly started crashing when trying to login. I found the fix on Omgubuntu.

The fix worked for me.

No doubt the conspiracy theorists will be out of the woodwork shortly.

The NSA server-side plug-in failed. It's supposed to scan and log conversations transparently, but they're having issues with the load apparently.
