What are your favorite TV and Movies that you have seen Linux computers in? Mine would be Alias, I have seen them many times use Linux, in one case on a laptop that had Damn Small Linux on it, it was on the wallpaper of the laptop. Name some of yours.

Lol indeed; in true Hollywood 12-year old hacker style, all security is null and void in about 5 seconds.

Sheldon mentions that Ubuntu is his favourite of all his operating systems in The Big Bang Theory.

When I was on the couch a few minutes ago, a soap opera called The Young and the Restless was on. My mother watches it. I grabbed the remote and turned to the TV to change the channel and stopped for a second looking at the woman in the show using her laptop as it showed the laptop screen. I immediately noticed something. She was using Linux! And it looked like one of Ubuntu's themes too! She had some email client (maybe Evolution) open and was checking her email. I thought this was strange and kind of cool too.

Has anyone ever noticed any popular shows or movies referencing Linux or showing someone using a Linux distribution?

I have never seen a TV show use Linux as they all seem to use Macs.

I just thought of one. In Criminal Minds it was revealed that Garcia's system was 'mostly Linux based'.

I think Sheldon would probably use, not ubuntu, but gentoo.

Sheldon does use Ubuntu. He said it in an episode.

Which was mentioned however Ubuntu was mentioned by the writers of the show not the character. And the actor mentioned he is not much like his character in real life. :)

I am pretty sure it was Unix in Jurassic Park, not Linux. Although the interface that was actually shown in the movie was ridiculous.

The Social Network was a good movie (and I have never even used Facebook).

It was Irix and the interface was real, called fsn.
