Hi.

Like the title says thats how it is, yesterday i added a panel to the top of my desktop so i could put hardware monitors amplets there under the top panel all was fine until this morning when i restarted the system, after the login screen all i have is the new panel at the top and nothing else.

I can't do anything right clicking, dosen't get rid of it i need this rig back to normal a.s.a.p.

It's a new install of 10.04lts nothing changed apart from the panel.

edit// Just to be clear there are NO other panels top or bottom, NO menus nothing.

Need some help.

1 .....How did you add the panel and what web-page did you follow ...... ?

2 ..... If its just a extension ..... it may be just a case of removing it from the directory its in ....
.........or un-installing it

Do you have a screenshot please ....

Hi.

I just right clicked on the top panel and added the new panel underneath it, and put the sys monitors there.

Now i haven't got any way to do anything i only have the new panel thats showing with normal login.

I have managed to get to gnome safe mode from the login page but i can't see any way to fix it ( to get rid of the panel ) get it back to normal.

edit// If i delete the panel folder from the gnome folder and reboot will that make it rebuild the panels back to normal?

Here is a full search I did on restoring panels (http://www.google.com/search?client=ubuntu&channel=fs&q=ight+clicked+on+the+top+panel+and+added+the+new+ panel&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8#sclient=psy&hl=en&client=ubuntu&channel=fs&source=hp&q=top+panel+and+added+the+new+panel+restore+2011&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=764a46f42ec5289a&biw=1179&bih=549)

Does this link help at all ..... Restore panels back to defaults (http://www.watchingthenet.com/restore-panels-in-ubuntu-back-to-their-default-settings.html) its quite old so may be best to check
the next link out >> this one ..... LINK (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1690239)

Good to see that you found a way to do it ..... do you want to mark this thread as solved then others may benefit from your experience with it too .... or of course once that you
are sure that it is sorted permanently.

Panels is not my thing as I do not use them much ..... tend to use cairo-dock .....
its very versatile ..... just drag things onto it and move them where you want them.

As for a monitor for CPU etc I use Conky .....

Ok glad to see you sorted it though .....
