How do I hide my desktop items in KDE? I just moved to 11.04 and I would be happier if my desktop was a little cleaner...

You can hide any individual files, folders, and icons by renaming them so that that have a period in the beginning of the file name.

Or, you can hide every icon on the desktop by switching to the "Desktop" view layout instead of the "Folder View" layout. Right click on your desktop and select Folder View Settings, then unlock your widgets, then in the view category, choose "Desktop" in the dropdown menu where it says "Layout:". Then click apply.
