So i downloaded Ubuntu and burned onto a disc to try it out. I placed the disc in my drive, restart my computer and ubuntu boots. I get to the screen where it ask if i want to try or install ubuntu. Something came up where i needed to access some files on my windows os so i popped out the cd, manually restarted the comp. Screen is black, wont boot windows and wont boot ubuntu now. Infact, nothing comes up, no bios, no anything. just black screen. please help.

Welcome to the forums :)

What do you mean by...

Something came up where i needed to access some files on my windows os

You are talking about the option that lets you import your windows documents to Ubuntu or you yourself needed to get to Windows for some personal jobs?

Back to the original issue, there is nothing booting an Ubuntu Live CD could cause to the Bios. If you can't even see the Bios screen, that is nothing related to Trying/Installing Ubuntu at all.

Un-plug the power cord from your PC and press the power button for at least 10 sec to drain out all the power. Re-plug and try powering it on. Do things improve?

Moreover, we are talking about a desktop right?
