View Full Version : [ubuntu] Snag on install

I burned version 10.4 sucessfully to CD but when I try to start the install I get the following.

mounting dev loop0 on filesystem.squashfs failed. This is on a Toshiba Tecra M2 630 laptop.

I inserted the disk on my HP desktop CQ 2009 and the option to install came right up.

I googled and some are saying that burning to a DVD sometimes solves the problem.
I don't see how that could make any difference. Any replied appreciated.

You appear to be having the read error from that drive on that CD stock.

Making a DVD instead gives you a disk with a little extra error correection built in.

You can also make a LiveUSB: B]unetbootin[/B] http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/ to convert the ISO into a LiveUSB

You can also reburn a new CD at the slowest possible burn speed.

I too have the same problem. It is on laptop
I tried installing 11.04, but got this error:
(initramfs) Cannot Mount /dev/loop() (/cdrom/casper/filesystem.squashfs) on //filesystem.squashfs

The same CD was runing on different PC and there was no problem installing 11.04 .
I tried to install 10.10 on the laptop, and it worked smoothly without errors.
How do I burn the iso image on a DVD.

Sorry late getting back. Just now found my post. I must add that I thought there was no problem on a second computer. Actually this problem is on three different computers. I will try making the boot disk using a DVD. AND for some reason I did not get an email notification of a reply to my post.

And raunhar. I have read that the 10.10 version might solve this problem as it did for you. Can you give me a link to download it? Thanks guys
