Hi Everybody,
last week I wanted to try Gnome 3, so I added the gnome 3 team ppa (https://launchpad.net/~gnome3-team/+archive/gnome3) and dist-upgraded my system.
It also upgraded Evolution to version 3.0.0. As soon as I started evolution after upgrade, it had to convert my email archive to a new format. After that I discovered that some old emails went lost.
My big mistake has been not to keep any backup of my email. I also deleted the backup that evolution created form be before converting the email because at a first sight nothing seemed to be lost or corrupted.
Yes I know, I've been stupid doing so...
BTW, since Evolution 3 / Gnome 3 looks still pretty unstable to me, I would like to go back to gnome 2. The big question mark now is the email. If I do a backup from Evolution 3, will I be able to safely restore it in Evolution 2? If not, how can I go back to gnome 2 without loosing all my email?
Thanks, Luca.
