Hi,

I am trying to install Lubuntu alongside windows. Ive downloaded the lubuntu 11.04 iso file (using the direct link on this page (http://www.linoob.com/2011/04/lubuntu-11-04-final-released/)), and burned it to a CD. However, when trying to run the CD, all I get is an explorer window showing me the iso file I just burned. When trying to boot from the CD, nothing happens.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for any help with this.

Hi

what program did you use to burn the image to the disc?
i think you may have burned the image FILE to the disc instead of burning the image you need to use a program like imgburn which you can download for free here: http://download.cnet.com/ImgBurn/3000-2646_4-11673524.html
in windows or brasero in ubuntu then open the iso file using that program and burn to the disc from there

hope that helped

Barry

Here is a nice step-by-step... it's not specific for Lubuntu, but it should work.

If you see tye .iso file on the CD you just burned a data CD, not a disk image, which is what you need for booting and installation. Most if not all windows CD burning software has an image burning option, so look again in your application, and try again. When you burn the CD this time, do it at the slowest speed possible for greater accuracy.

Thanks for the good advice.

I managed to burn the disk image, but then encountered another problem: when inserting the disc I got the error message "cannot find cd meny."

Do you know where the problem might lie?
