System Sound Preferences with 11.04

Hola,

Am curious where the System Sound Preferences are located within Ubuntu 11.04. Can anybody help with this por favor?

Well there is one in the drop down from the speaker icon in the indicators.

Its strange, when I click on this drop down icon nothing happens, no window comes up and also, the icon shows a dead speaker (speaker icon) followed by ------------and a popup appears "waiting for Sound System to Respond ..... so I cannot control the card I want to use, and by default sound plays only through my built in sound device (snd_HDA_INTEL) and I cannot use my PCI card ( snd_ice1712) so far.It is important for me that I be able to use it, because this card is the one which has the features I need for my work.I hope someone can suggest how to be able to control the Sound Preferences.
