hey guys, i have found a great offline dictionary for ubuntu..it was a headache for me , not having an offline dictionary...but this application is great..i hope you all will like it...

or you could convert the default gnome dictionary into an offline one by following the below method:


Install a local dictionary server and required dictionaries and thesaurus:
sudo apt-get install dictd dictzip dict-wn dict-foldoc dict-jargon dict-gcide dict-moby-thesaurus

Configure Dictionary to use the local dictionary:
Application > Office > Dictionary
Edit > Preferences
Add a new source using 127.0.0.1 as the Hostname and select it as your default source.

I also like the Aard Dictionary, that also has the capability of loading offline wikipedia pages. See more details on their site: http://aarddict.org/index.html
