View Full Version : [ubuntu] install burg without loosing purple boot screen

Hello,
I have a duel booting system, Ubuntu 11.04 and Windows 7. I have installed burg. I have ended up with text when booting ubuntu. When I changed the splash it only show on shut down. How can i make it show on boot?

I am having the same problem. When I install burg the splash screen no longer appears and all I get is text when Ubuntu is loading up.

I followed the instructions on this forum thread (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1598787). This enabled both the splash screen and burg to work, however oddly enough when I arrived at the login screen I was unable to boot into unity as it said my computer did not meet the hardware specifications. When I reinstalled grub however I was able to boot into unity.

Does anyone have any ideas of how to fix this?

AFAIK Burg is dead, or in a coma. look at their forum:

Thanks for your reply. Do you know if there are any other graphical boot loaders out there anywhere which may work better than burg?
