Why?

At school I use GMail's web interface. At home, I use Evolution.

Client, Evolution. Much better than GMail's default interface.

Gmail. I have never seen a better implementation of threads like Gmail. It have tried some Thunderbirds addons, but none of them is as good as Gmail does it.

The only thing that is keeping me to still use the gmail web client is the chat built it with it.

On my main PC I use evolution. Everywhere else, it's Gmail.

No I am trying to say I like the chat. I use it a lot. And if I didn't use it nearly as much I would use a client such as thunderbird.

You can use Google Talk from Pidgin, Empathy, or any other XMPP client.

Client. A home I use Thunderbird. At work I am forced to use Outlook for my work address and they block all webmail traffic.

Both. Gmail with the web site (and with the Android client, of course), while my other mail accounts are best used by combining them all into same client.

When you have several mail accounts and don't want to redirect mails between them, a good mail client quickly becomes a lifesaver. :)

Web-based. I run several different distros here and want to be able to easily access my email from each of them. I have a Gmail account and a couple of Yahoo accounts.

Client.
I dislike having to open a webpage whenever I want to check my mail.
and I dislike all the crap in most webmail pages.

Thunderbird is my favorite...
Simply because Evolution has never worked quite right for me. lol
I would rather use evolution, as it is "built in" ...
But Thunderbird has it beat in my experiences.

I have gmail accounts. On my netbook and android phone I use the web interface. On my home computer, I have used Evolution; but since my upgrade to 10.04 I've used the web interface. Why? Dunno really... though I gotta say, I haven't really missed Evolution. I only ever used it as an email client (ie no calendar or whatever), so I don't miss its other functions.

I prefer the level of control I have over my email experience when using a good client app. None of the available webmail solutions allow me to work the way I want to. I also prefer to be able to read mail off-line if necessary.

Client, as I hate web apps. The Gmail web interface is terrible, I can't stand that conversation view crap.

Web based. Gmail's interface is better and faster than any client i've tried, and it's consistent across every computer I use.
