I installed edubuntu on top of ubuntu today and need the download file on another computer... So instead of downloading the file again is it stored on the computer locally?

Thanks
Ben

G'day mate,

How did you install it? I take it you didn't download the image and burn it to a CDROM, because you mentioned the 'download file'.

If you did it via the Software Center then I believe the answer will be no.

I suspect your best bet is to download the image and burn it to a CDROM then you will be right. You can get it from here:

http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/edubuntu/releases/11.04/release/

Cheers,

James.

:edit:

Actually I susect that I may be wrong. Did a quick google and found that they may be stored in /var/cache/apt/archives. I don't have access to a Linux box at this moment so you will have to check. Have a gander at:

http://aptoncd.sourceforge.net/ (http://blog.mypapit.net/2007/03/put-apt-get-repository-on-dvdcd-ubuntudebian.html)

It lets you install the downloaded installs into CD/DVD so you can use it for other computers or a backup for that matter.
