It's TextMate, a text editor for Mac. How do Mac people always innovate so great stuff? Why can't other OS-s users create something new and cool? Could some similar scripts be made for Vim, Emacs and stuff?

Every scriptable editor can do that sort of thing.

Emacs can be made to do stuff like that.

However, both gEdit (v2.14) and Scribes (scribes.sf.net) are very influenced by TextMate.

I haven't tried Scribes, but now I'm forced to.

Kabus: you said every scriptable editor can do that. That's not the point. It's like modern art. Everyone can do crap like that, but can everyone make up something like that?

And what exactly gives you the impression that they have made it up?
Sources?

Editors that can be expanded through some sort of scripting language have been around at least since the 70ies, as far as I know.
So while I don't doubt that some pretty smart people are behind that TextMate thing, they certainly weren't the first to have the idea (if that's what you are implying). :)

I didn't mean that they included scripting in their apps. I meant the stuff that were in that screencast.

That sounds like a Danish accent (the guy talking in the video).

And again, though it certainly looks like a nice app, what exactly gave you the idea they were the first to come up with something like this?

the same way things are created in linux, and in windows. people, ideas, time, effort, etc. its basically the way that you get anything ever in the world done.

Why can't other OS-s users create something new and cool?
its impossible. creating cool stuff is reserved for macs. if you try to create something cool in linux or windows, you get thrown in jail forever. for-ev-er.

Why do people hate me :D? Anyone is angry at me again.

Sorry helpme I had no reason to believe that they made it first.

You're right there. He has pronouncing errors at just the exact occasions that a danish speaker would have :)

By the way, cool program!

I use nano very often for command line editing, but it's only good for that. I don't see why I should use it instead of something like Scribes, Gedit, Vim or Emacs.

I can add that the developer's name is Allan Oddgaard, and there I think we have conclusive evidence that he's danish. ;-)
