11.04 natty: opening a new file in Qcad causes a crash

I have upgraded to natty 11.04. I re-installed Qcad, ran it and on opening a file (either through the menu bar or by pressing Ctrl-O), Qcad disappears from screen and the Gnome login sequence begins anew.

I do not know whether this is an issue in Qcad or 11.04

Also, it appears that a 32 bit library (ia-32libs) is not available for natty 11.04. Is 32 bit support already built into natty?
