This was my first try with Ubuntu. I installed Ubuntu 11.04 using WUBI and it appeared to install properly. But, when I rebooted and chose Ubuntu, it booted but there appears to be something wrong with the graphics--it was all jumbled. Do I need to install various drivers as a part of the initial install like I do with windows? If so, I'm not sure how to go about installing them if I can't get Ubuntu to boot so that I can read the screen. If anyone can clarify this I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks-

Fran H.

Hi, welcome to the fora.

For Wubi problems, take a look in this thread:

I checked the links and found nothing that I could really understand enough to feel comfortable doing. I'm not a programmer of any kind, so entering commands is not something I want to do if I can help it.

I decided to try booting from a CD that I burned using the Ubuntu 11.04 instructions and getting a little instruction from Asus about boot orders. I had the same kind of graphics/display problem I described before. I guess at this point I'll just wait on Ubuntu and try it again sometime in the future--maybe things will resolve themselves by then.

I have to say though, I thought I'd at least be able to boot from a disk and give Ubuntu a try. This was pretty disappointing for me to be honest. :(

Are you giving up already?

I can not help with Wubi since I do not have Windows, but the thread I pointed to is the main thread for troubleshooting. Posting there is the way to go.

If a live boot (where Windows is not active) does not work, adding boot options is a good fist step. There are some links to boot options in this post:
