Now that Ubuntu 11.4 has been released it is time to see what people are actually using.

I ran a roll leading up the release of Ubuntu 11.4 asking what people would use, unity had almost twice as many votes as Shell but even more people said they would stay with Gnome classic. see pool here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1714835)
And if interested read my blog on the results Here (http://ubuntu-tools.com/2011/05/09/gnome-shell-vs-unity-what-have-the-people-chosen/)

Now that we have had a good look at Unity I wonder how many classic fans have come around to Unity and more importantly what did the 27% undecided chose in the end?

I will start the voting Unity I love it!

I'm actually using Unity. I didn't think I'd like it all that much, but once you get used to it, it's pretty okay. There are still things that need working on though (obviously) like how long it takes for the dash to open and finish loading even on a relatively well powered system.

Gnome Classic most often.

I like the classic way ... old habits die hard :)

I'm currently using Meego. But... As soon as Fedora 15 is released I'd been making the leap to Gnome-Shell. Tried the beta and it's such an excellent idea and feels great under my finger tips on my Viewpad 10 (http://www.ollie-reardon.co.uk/viewpad-10/). It's a great mix of a Desktop interface mixed in so it's suitable for Netbooks and Tablets too.

Once it's released it's just a matter of getting the Fedora-Netbook (http://www.fedora-netbook.com) Kernel and the Maliit packages (http://www.jonnor.com/2011/04/introducing-maliit-on-screen-keyboard-in-gnome-3/) for Fedora 15 once they're released.

Exciting things coming up this month for me in the Linux Scene. Fedora 15... Meego 1.2... The list goes on and on!!

Rather amise leaving out the Gnome-Shell with Ubuntu option?

There is no reason to leave Ubuntu just to get Gnome-Shell. From the albeit limited testing I have done the Fedora 15 beta is heavier and less stable than Ubuntu+G3S from the PPAs.

After a great time with KDE I decided to use definiteley Xfce, and love it.
But I think I will try Gnome Shell, Unity is not for me.
