Weird lines around elements in gnome 3

i didn't know which section to put this in, but since it is a question about gnome3, i figured this was the best place. every theme i use besides the default adwaita theme seems to have these red outlines around every element, as seen in the attachment. does anyone have any idea why this is, and does anyone have any dea how to fix it?

No, but I'm experiencing it too. I read somewhere the other day it is a bug in gnome-shell, but it could be in mutter. If you find a way to swat this bug I'm all ears.

I'm wondering if it's actually a flaw in the theme data files somewhere and the current shell just got a little stricter?

I'm going to try and make some comparisons in the themes but I really don't know what to look for. :)
