Hi,

Just a funny thought ... I would love to look at the Google Analytics to see how many people are posting right now on a windows or mac machine and see how this compares to Ubuntu users.

Interesting statistic.

right now I am on a windows box, using a virtualized Lucid instance in VBox using Seamless mode. I love Seamless; a lot of the time, I don't need to remember what OS I'm on in any given window.

In the subject you say "look" but in your post you say "posting".

I often read the forum on my Windows laptop especially if I'm half-watching TV but I would only post if I really felt the need to. Mostly I use Ubuntu on my main PC though, details as per my signature.

On this laptop which is dualboot Ubuntu & Vista I boot in to Windows about once a fortnight to get the Vista updates. On those occasions I'll read / post here from Windows.

(Which makes me wonder why I keep Vista on here!!)

Most people checking the forums from work would be doing so on a Windows box, so I'd guess quite a few.

I'm viewing the forums from Windows 7 being run in a VM inside of Ubuntu 11.04 being run in a VM inside Windows Vista being run in a VM inside Fedora being run in a VM inside Windows XP being run in a VM inside openSUSE being run in a VM inside Dapper Drake which is dual booted with Windows 7 running Ubuntu 10.10 in a VM.

Good luck with that one. :)

We don't check what operating system a member is running, but we do keep track of which browser someone is using. The last time I saw any stats, about 30% of people accessing the forum were using IE.

I think Google Analytics might see it as Windows 7, though.

All Ubuntu here but, you'd never get a true answer even with the server logs as you get IE under wine in Ubuntu plus you can choose which OS version ... 98, WinXP, Vista, Win7 same but, opposite with Wubi in Windows plus some browsers you can input the browser, OS string in yourself ... lol

At school I use Firefox 4 Portable on Vista.

Linuxquestions actually posts a little picture of the OS you posted from.

Largely Unix-ish OSs there, but still quite a few Windows ones.

This thread reminds me of the threads on WiiHacks (http://www.wiihacks.com/) about how many Nintendo officials were viewing the site. It's definitely an interesting thought.

I am right now because of several reasons. I don't want to use gnome 2 cause it is going going gone. I don't want to use Unity cause it isn't ready. I don't want to use gnome shell via ppa. I am really looking forward to Oneiric Ocelot so I can switch back in forth between Gnome Shell and Unity. I really feel like we will se a lot of big exciting changes in the next release. I'm really not that excited about what is currently out there. I have Gnome shell installed in Natty and anything with regards to privacy and security is done there. It's just not ready to be a full time os yet.

I've done it before, but not super often, but I definately do it. (I rarely come in contact with Windows recently, I do Mac though, and I have browsed here from Macs too). Also, I occasionally get on here from my iPod Touch :)

I use Windows XP on my main PC, and just last night I installed Windows XP on my Laptop which up until now had been running Linux Mint. I still visit the forums on them both though, just because I like to keep up with Linux/Ubuntu related things. :)
