I am trying to compile gnome 3 and I have a problem. (without breaking Unity, gnome-shell in /home folder). I was using this tutorial. (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1603874)

When I enter this command

/bin/bash gnome-shell-build-setup.sh

I get this message

Updating jhbuild ... Cannot pull with rebase: You have unstaged changes.
Please commit or stash them.

How to fix this or is there some tutorial?

I have found a video tutorial that I posted on my blog that explains how to install gnome3. Click here (http://http://ubuntufever.blogspot.com/2011/04/how-to-install-gnome-3-on-ubuntu-1104.html). You don't have to compile it. Just letting you know the post first shows the gui way to do it, then the command line instructions at the bottom. You don't have to do both. Just one, so you don't get comfused.

You could also try either of the Links in my signature too .... both versions 32 bit or 64 bit

The 32 bit one is the better at the moment in respect to installation and it seems more people are using it and it is now being seeded in many places on the torrents.

As you know its still in development ...... but I did jhbuild after installing it too to check it .... and it pulled the 41
packages and built them all successfully ...... but you really have no need to do this as at the moment the ISO is up-to-date and working.

But your choice,,,,
