I have recently upgraded to Natty. When I try to drag some applications to the Unity launcher, as I move the mouse over the launcher a space appears, but when I drop the icon, it is not added to the launcher. What do I need to look at? This seems to happen with KDE applications such as Akregator. Is it something to do with Desktop files. If so, where do I look?

Thanks. No, but I have now, and it makes no difference.

You'll have to open up gconf-editor, go to Unity, applications and manually add the application to the launcher using the desktop. specification standard. And you can also rearrange the order of icons there.

try creating a launcher for it on the desktop, then drag that to unity.

When you open an application you want to keep in the launcher , right click the icon and select "keep in launcher".
