booting errors

Last night, i was almost done upgrading to 11.04 when my power cut out. Now, my computer will not let me boot onto linux and i need to access my files. Is there anyway to access these files or finish the upgrade using terminal? when i try 'sudo apt-get' with any command, it returns the error message that its a read only disk...
please help

i assume that your on the live cd. you should be able to access your hdd with it and copy your files to a safe place before attempting repairs.

Ubuntu is hosed.

Reinstalling it is faster than fixing it. You'll lose data but the moral is back it up for the unexpected. But you know that now.
