Hello,

I have with me the hardrive of a laptop I used to work on in the past (motherboard's long dead though).

It ran on Ubuntu 9.10. There are a few files I would like to recover from it, but I cannot access my home documents folder when I simply connect the hard drive through a usb - it is passworded. I know the password, but frankly, I am not sure how to even get a prompt for it.

I considered booting my lappy directly from the hard drive, but I'm a bit wary about doing that.

What can I do? I only want to browse around in my docs.

Your help is kindly appreciated.

Have you tried booting to a flash drive?

Is your home folder encrypted?

Also, the flash drive won't help...
