But yeah, great to see a major popular game ported to HTML5 :) Maybe others will follow their footsteps now and make more HTML5 games.

Not HTML 5, but WebGL. HTML 5 isn't sufficient enough to run a game with sprites that complex. Heck, not even JavaScript.

Well maybe I don't understand it quite right, but I thought WebGL was sorta a part of HTML5 (in the same way the <video> tags are a part of HTML5, for example). Either way, games with open standards and not Flash, that's what's good, no matter what the technical details behind it are :P

I definitely agree with you there.

What's so interesting about this tiny little game? Before the iPhone and its "App Store," no cared about these pieces of software that were barely more complex than Tetris.

Simple game, simple concept, cheap, works on phones. It's the intellectual equivalent of the Sun (UK trash paper), but it's quite addictive.

The Windows version of Angry Birds works perfectly under Wine 1.3.

It's a physics timewaster.

All games are time-wasters, what's your point? ;)

It's just a Crush the Castle knock off. Crush the Castle has worked in Firefox for years.

Crush the Castle is an almost exact knock off of Castle Clout, though.

Is this free forever?

Or only during the chrome browser/chrome OS beta of it?

It's free for Android forever, so I'll bet it will be free, but ad based.

This game is stupid. What was with the hype? Nobody else could make a similarly polished game?

If that's the case why don't we have more games like this on Ubuntu/Linux, It seems every time I defend the corner my Windows using friends say "Ubuntu is rubbish there's no games or I would consider it".

The hype is because it was a phone game. It's awesome for a phone, but antique for a computer.

I couldn't agree more. Still, it's pretty addicting, no matter what platform you're on (and I still can't get the theme song out of my head).
