I need help regarding a Xoom

I can not get a steady connection via usb. I have tried mounting it, but it freezes my pc. All i want to do is transfer files to and from my xoom and pc. I installed gnomad2 and when i open it, it just closes. Same thing with Qlix. Can someone please tell me what i am doing wrong.

have you tried over wifi?
what I do is in ubuntu I right click the folder I want to use & turn on sharing.
in android you need a file manager that supports smb, I use es file explorer, I just click the network tab, do the scan, then I have access to what ever folders I have shared.
