hi all,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the following code

$ sudo apt-get install xubuntu-desktop

will break anything in my system, i am currently running 11.04 with Unity and am happy but just would like to try the xfce interface, if i do install how do i go about switching from one to the other, that is between Unity and XFCE? will it be an option in the Login Screen Tool?

if this isn't a good idea please let me know :) thanks

When you login, it should give you options at the bottom about what environment you'd like to use. If you do install xfce, you might get more applications that are from Xubuntu.

thanks, i'll mark as solved for now, maybe i'll give it a try i'm not sure. The additional applications wouldn't bother me but i'd hate to have to reinstall 11.04 to fix anything.

Shouldn't be a problem, you could just uninstall any applications you don't need.

if you try to instal "xubuntu-desktop" it wil remove "ubuntu-desktop". what you should do is install "xfce4" package. you can find it in synaptic.
