I am in love with Ubuntu and I think it's time for me to take part of helping the community by helping people with hard problems that involve hard stuff. :P I wanna know how I can learn more about Ubuntu and Linux. Thanks!

Install gentoo properly. That should teach you a good bit about linux ;). No genkernel.

Arch, Gentoo and LFS are the three steps. Arch is relatively easy (although much harder than Ubuntu). Gentoo is yet harder, but at end you can have a fully functional system. LFS is a book that teaches you how to make your own Linux distribution, it is awesome for learning, but at the end, making a working Linux system is not a one man job.

Which, LFS or gentoo? Also, learn some C and C++ and check out kernel source code.

I'll go in order of what 3Miro said. And yeah, I'll learn C and C++ because I might want to make programs later. I'm just so interested in technology that I want to take part in it and Linux is my first step.

Gentoo may be a lot more work without as much of the learning. Arch lets you learn like with Gentoo but without compiling everything, which isn't exactly necessary to learn the technical things. Just take a look at the Arch wiki and you'll instantly learn quite a bit more than you ever wanted to know. That's one of my top resources when advising people on other distributions.

Oh, another small note- if you've never even programmed before, Python may be a good first step to understand the concepts before you move right into C or C ++ where the syntax can make it harder to understand the core concepts of programming and test them. It's been shown to help people learn those basics much faster than most other languages. It's much easier to take a small bite and learn Python over a few weeks than it is to do the same with C++.

Become a mentor. Answer questions for brand new beginners. I don't think you really ever stop learning, so you don't advance that much up the scale. That's one of the cool thinks with technology. :P

I'm such a noob, I don't even know how to create a wiki page. So far I have this: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/thenerdal

Want to add more so it can look like this. :O https://wiki.ubuntu.com/starcraft.man
