It would be perfect. It could use Jabber/XMPP on the Ubuntu One servers. We already have a client in the form of Empathy, and there are XMPP clients for Windows and Mac too. Open standards, and it's already cross platform. Most of us already have Ubuntu Single Sign-on accounts. If there was a Canonical/Ubuntu One Skype replacement, would you try it?
