Is there a version of Ubuntu that for any reason (i.e first Linux distro, introduction to Ubuntu, stability, etc) that makes you nostalgic? For me, Ubuntu 9.04 with its orange and brown theme will forever be the best, as it introduced me to the wonderful world of Linux. What about for you guys?

I first noticed Ubuntu years back but 7.04 was probably my first serious distro (Dual boot though).
However I do prefer the purple look it's more sleek even if people do say it's a bit of a Mac copy.

5.10 was my first Ubuntu, I guess I might be able to get nostalgic about it. Otherwise, I think I just like to keep up-to-date, and I regard anything older as "hopelessly obsolete".

Breezy Badger. Such an awesome, straight forward, light weight release.

5.04 was my first Ubuntu install, but I've got more of a soft spot for 5.10 -- my first install where everything worked (including the sound!).

A few months ago I found my old cd album that included Knoppix, Fedora Core 4, Gentoo, and Hoary Hedgehog. That was pretty nostalgic... made me think of high school lol.

Breezy Badger was my first... Either it or Dapper would be my favourites. Since then the only significant developments for me have been FF3 and 4.

Not a distro - but whenever "ndiswrapper" gets a mention it reminds me of the Ubuntu/Dell B130 (broadcom wifi) battles of yesteryear ):P

9.10 because it had the best login screen. :p

When I think back on Ubuntu I just remember that disgusting brown... it keeps me up at night.

I have a lot of good memories of Red Hat 9 and Fedora Core 4 though.

I liked the brown. I pour out a few Reese's pieces for the versions that are no longer with us.

8.04 Hardy Heron!

My first real Linux installation. I had played around with Puppy Linux on a usb before that. I miss the bright orange and amazing background from that release.

red hat linux 2.1. in 1995
Came in a book that I got about installing linux.
I installed it on a compaq laptop with 32 megs of ram and a pentium 133 processor.
It did not have a CD drive so I used a pcmcia external cd drive. (took forever to make this work)
Took me almost 3 months to complete the installation. then X would not run. but I could ping the ip's on my network.

8.04. First Ubuntu version that actually worked for me, and in my opinion it still has better artwork than any version since.

7.04

My first Ubuntu and the release that really put Ubuntu on the map as a top Linux distro and got some traction in mainstream tech media.

The various booting screens do it for me.
From an orange progress bar to a spotlight to orange dots to purple dots. I miss the orange bar the most.
