i have downloaded updates on a new install from “##http://ubuntu.arcticnetwork.ca” (http://ubuntu.arcticnetwork.ca%E2%80%9D) and the install works fine. however when i reset “software sources” to just united states i find an additional 17 updates. some were firefox security updates and some were “apt” updates. seem important to me. anyone else run across this ?

This happens when the mirrors aren't in sync. If you waited a bit (a few hours usually) then ubuntu.arcticnetwork.ca would offer the updates as well
